Call for Abstracts
Present your Research at this Meeting
INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS

We welcome the submission of your abstract which should highlight regional aspects relating to the following topics: etiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment, prevention, screening and epidemiology of Esophageal and Colorectal Cancer. The deadline for abstracts is December 15, 2007. Abstracts must be submitted as outlined below. Authors will be notified by January 15, 2008 as to the status of the abstract they submitted.

Abstracts will be reviewed by the organising committee and the best abstracts will be selected as an oral presentation during the conference. The oral presentation cannot exceed 15 minutes plus 5 minutes for discussion. The registration fee for the conference will be waived for those who submit abstracts which are accepted by the Organising Committee. There is no fee for the submission of abstracts.

All abstracts must be submitted in English.

To submit an abstract, Authors may e-mail the abstract as a Word document to the following email address: Cherane.Ali@medc.de. Please follow the instructions below to ensure consideration:

Preparation of Abstract

Title should be brief and clearly state the content of the paper. List the presenting author’s name first. Give the name and the location of the institution where the work was done.

Organize the body of the abstract as follows:

  1. Purpose of the study (one sentence if possible)
  2. Simple statement of methods
  3. Summary of results obtained
  4. Statement of the conclusions reached (do not state: “The results will be discussed.”)
Standard abbreviations may be used: RBC, gm., kg., mg., ml., % (percent)/(per)

General Instructions

Simple tables or graphs may be included if they fit within the abstract. Illustrations are not allowed.

Nonproprietary (generic) names should be used the first time a drug is mentioned and should be typed in small letters. Proprietary names are capitalized.

Abstracts chosen for oral presentation must be delivered by an author who speaks and understands

English and/or French well enough to ensure satisfactory understanding and later discussion.

Unless otherwise indicated, all correspondence will be conducted with the primary author. It is assumed that in the event the paper is accepted, the primary author will present.

Authors are invited to submit complete manuscripts to the Editors of World Gastroenterology News to be considered for publication

Font Style and Size

All abstracts must be submitted using only Courier, Helvetica or Times Roman typestyles, in either 10 or 12 point. Smaller size type or other type styles are not permitted.
Abstract titles should be typed in upper and lowercase letters.

Abstract Length

The size limit of the body of the abstract (including authors, institutions, title, body tables and figures) is 2,750 characters. Please note, each figure counts as 371 characters.

Responsibility

Authors have full responsibility for any statements submitted. Authors are also responsible for proofreading the abstract. Authors must disclose and explain any potential conflicts of interest in a separate letter enclosed with the abstract.
All abstracts submitted will be published in a supplement to the conference.

Note for Poster Abstracts

Abstracts not to exceed 200 words are accepted for poster presentation at the Symposium. Each abstract and poster presentation should contain original information. The main theme of the Symposium “Digestive Oncology” should be incorporated as well.
